Hello there! I'm Dallied Charlemagne Kien.
During the political crisis in Ivory Coast, I found myself seeking refuge in Lome, Togo. It was during this challenging time that I had a profound encounter with the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ. Through daily meditation on God’s Word, I discovered a source of strength and healing that transcended any terminal disease that came my way. I triumphed over adversity not with drugs but with the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. Now, I want to share these life-transforming lessons with you so that you can find strength and healing in your own journey.
Career in the Energy Sector
My professional journey began after I graduated from the Ecole Supérieure Interafricaine d’Electricité in 1985. I joined EECI (Energie Electrique de Côte d’Ivoire) as the Head of the Technical Division of the Regional Office of Distribution in Yamoussoukro. Over the years, I took on various roles, from heading the Central District of Gagnoa in 1988 to becoming the Southwest Regional Director in Gagnoa, the South-Centre Regional Director in Yamoussoukro, and finally, the Regional Director in Yopougon, Abidjan, for CIE (Company Ivoirienne d’Electricité) between 1992 and 1999.
Today, Dallied Charlemagne Kien serves as a TAF Expert (The EU’s Technical Assistance Facility) in Electricity Production, Transmission, and Distribution for the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative, focusing on Central and Western Africa. His wealth of experience and dedication to sustainable energy solutions continue to make a profound impact on the region. Since December 4, 2019, Dallied Kien has taken on the pivotal role of Country Manager for the USAID Energy Program for West Africa, known as the West Africa Energy Program (WAEP).
Innovation, Excellence and Leadership
In December 1998, my innovative spirit led to a significant achievement. I received the Marcel Zadi Kessy Award of Excellence for inventing a transformer protection system HV/LV against lightning. This groundbreaking invention was put into practice at the South-Centre Regional Head office.
In 2002, as Chair of the CIE crisis committee, I faced the daunting task of managing the crisis that erupted in Côte d’Ivoire, marked by violent clashes in various cities, including Abidjan and Bouaké. My role as a member of the Prime Minister’s crisis committee during this turbulent period tested my leadership skills.
Academic Pursuits
My commitment to continuous learning and academic excellence is evident in my journey:
- In November 2003, I was selected by the Bouygues Group for a one-year training program at HEC-Paris titled ‘Leading Tomorrow.’
- In 2006, I pursued further education at IESE Barcelona, where I trained for Case Studies teaching, obtaining the “Certificate International Faculty Program.”
- Upon my return, I was appointed Director of Research at the Institute of Advanced African Studies, collaborating with researchers from around the world on a study addressing “Why do managers engage in trustworthy behavior? the roles of OCB (organization citation behavior), trust in subordinates, and collectivism.” This study was presented at the Academy of Management in Chicago in August 2009.
Authorship
Dallied Kien is also the author of both the French and English versions of “The Ethics-Based Approach; or Keys of Human Fulfillment,” a testament to his commitment to ethical leadership and personal fulfillment.
